Purgatory is an intermediate stage between the physical world and higher dimensions.It is the state where the soul, after separating from the body, does not fully enter other realms and remains in a kind of suspension. This condition is like a bridge between material life and spiritual life. Due to false beliefs or unfinished matters, the soul becomes stuck or lost in this state. In purgatory, the soul needs peace and spiritual or metaphysical guidance in order to move forward and continue on the right path.
